Fundraiser for Gabe and Sam

Hey guys, I know this is not professional, but I always try to be very candid with what goes on in my life with our customers because you're a huge part of my life too. Today my brother's home burnt to the ground.  All of his fur babies were inside, not to mention all of his earthly possessions.

I want to tell you a little about my brother.  He and I are very close, I love him dearly and he has supported me through some of the highs and lows of my life, including losing my daughter (his niece).  He's a hard worker and finally found love after years of searching for it and popped the question to his wonderful gal on Valentine's Day of this year.

He and his fiance wanted to save for their wedding.  So with my mom's help they built a one bedroom apartment out of a barn on my mother's property.  They just finished it and moved in June.  They had been so excited and it turned out beautifully.  Since my family is made up of carpenters and electricians they did the work without properly permitting it, so they had absolutely no insurance.  They just lost everything, I mean their entire life went up in smoke this afternoon.

He called me today while I was boxing up an order.  I was in the middle of taping up the package, so I didn't answer it.  My mom called four times in a row right after and I knew something was terribly wrong.

She told me the apartment had been struck by lightning and they tried to go in and save the animals, but by the time they could get inside all of the animals had been burned alive.  Firefighters are still on the scene at this time and my family needs to come together.  I will be taking a short emergency leave of absence to go and support him in person.  I will not be shipping anything until I return on Monday, August 26th.

I will set up a proper GoFundMe account for them tomorrow, but in the meantime if you would like to help you can donate here (and it's even better through the site because it's fee-free for me to give him any donations that come his way).  But, I will set up a proper page for him tomorrow.  Otherwise you may donate to him directly at (Ryan Gabriel Fowler).

**Quick update- I wanted to add a few more photos, three of the apartment they built (they had just finished it in June, so some of these photos were during late construction stages and early move in stages). But, it was such a cute place. I stayed with them during the 4th of July. The last three photos are after the fire fighters left. The Fire Marshal was able to determine the source of the fire was a lightning strike.

They have found the bodies of two of their pets. They said that was the hardest part of this. My brother wept when he told me about how they found them. They lost absolutely everything they had. I made a quick supply run for them tonight, restocking them on the essentials and I will be there tomorrow to help them sort through the rubble.

If you want to help I will be setting up a GoFundMe page for them tomorrow, but you are welcome to help via my site as well.

I will be back in the office on Monday to finish wrapping up any outstanding orders, thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please keep him and his fiance Sam in your prayers this week.  Those pets were like their children.

***Update, Thursday, August 22nd- Finally found the remains of all of the pets. They have closure now and are resting this afternoon. I have set up a GoFundMe page now. If you cannot help please consider sharing your well-wishes so they can feel super loved.

They lost absolutely everything nothing is recognizable. It took use six hours with shovels to locate the last pet. If you would prefer to send gently worn clothing donations:

Sam wears a small/medium in tops and a 4-6 in pants and an 8.5 in shoes.
Gabe wears a large in t-shirts, 34 in pants and a size 10 in shoes.

Those items can be sent to my mom’s:
Christine Brown
4791 Poplar Head Church Rd
Holt, Florida 32564

Thank you so much for your well-wishes and donations, so far Cedar Creek Farmhouse has raised $250 and I will be helping them as much as I can in the coming days and weeks.

****Update, Friday, August 23rd- Yesterday I set up a GoFundMe for these two (so family and friends could donate there). Turns out there are no fees and Gabe and Sam can withdraw funds as they need them. So I have taken our first round of donations and put them there. I will continue to keep this listing up (they are going to need a lot of help). All donations via my site I will keep funneling into the GoFundMe. But please feel free to donate there as well or directly to his PayPal. So far we’ve raised $300, I will match that. The link to GoFundMe is:
