Hey guys!
So we've had a super trying year, but we're back... finally. Most of you know that we moved from Atlanta, to Fairhope, Alabama and then even closer to family last winter. We're finally settled, but we had some hiccups getting our Florida nursery license this spring and we were unable to ship anything.
Nothing was wrong, it was just a cluster of unfortunate events. Our field inspector lost our soil sample-- not once, but twice. Soil has to be tested in order to legally ship to certain states. Then our application was rejected because they wanted a list of every hybrid name we've ever sold or will ever sell (Echeveria Sp. wasn't good enough). I tried to explain to them that echeveria hybrids are constantly changing and new ones are being created all the time and even USDA recognizes and accepts 'Sp.' as a legitimate scientific name.
In the middle of all of that back and forth, our field inspector moved to a different state and her seat was vacant for a while. So our application just sat.
It was a nightmare, but we are finally legitimately able to ship plants now, we just completely lost our spring season over it.
But good came from all of that stupidity. I knew in order to help support my family in this period that I would need a job. I took a job as office manager at our local family owned nursery and the owners and I became friends. I told them about Cedar Creek Farmhouse and we shared war stories about all of the ups and downs of small business. They agreed to let us open our first retail location at their nursery and you can now visit us in person.
So if you live in the area or vacation in Destin, we're right up the street. And you can visit the nursery's page at: www.panhandlepalmandrock.com
So, I hope you will forgive our absence. Now that we have our license, it's just a simple renewal every year. All of the paperwork has been done and accepted. And we do not plan on moving from the area, we're finally close to our loved ones and we're staying put.
We did ship orders during this period, but admittedly I have not been great about keeping up with our inbox during the construction phase of the retail store. It was really busy-- a lot of long nights and I was still managing the nursery by day. I will get into our inbox this week and start responding to our messages. Please try to remember, it's just a one woman show. Christel is a dear friend of mine and she helps during our uploads, but it's just me doing the daily operations.
I sincerely appreciate your patience, we're really excited to get going again. I've missed the plants terribly and the upload chats!
Here's some photos of our new space:
I hope you enjoyed our photos and I am so grateful for your business and support over the years. Without you guys, this would have never been possible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
