Happy Autumn and Thanksgiving! We usually do a blog post at the beginning of every season to let you guys know what we have been up to. We sold our home in Atlanta and have moved down to a southern, coastal area of Alabama. It's gorgeous here! We get some of the most amazing sunsets and the old oak trees are just incredible! I finally feel like I'm home-- we're closer to my family and we have a little land to cultivate with now too, which was always the ultimate goal for our family and for the business. I hope everyone else has had a good summer and I'm so thankful to finally be seeing some of the effects of fall here!
I know everyone is anxious to see Cedar Creek Farmhouse start back with our live plant uploads and so am I! So, I wanted to update you on our site and what we're planning for the 2021-2022 season.
Updates on Live Uploads and Subscriptions-
We generally open up live sales in late September or early October. The weather here is a bit warmer than in Atlanta and we wanted to make sure that we were importing at appropriate times to keep the plants as healthy as possible. I thought we'd be OK with our normal time frames, but it's just been warmer here than what I was comfortable with for importing. The weather is cooling off now and I think we're all set for quality shipments.
We have rebuilt our cold room and our plants will still be cold quarantined for a short period of time after arrival, but we wanted to make sure the plants traveled well to and from Cedar Creek as well (for this reason we have been waiting on the weather to cool off).
Subscriptions will start to ship the first Tuesday of December. This will be an ongoing change moving forward, the climate here is just warmer.
We do have new plants on order! We are still getting the hang of transit times to our new headquarters. We will have a smaller than usual Black Friday this year. Everything on the site will be 35% off all weekend long and we plan to open up the Requests site on Black Friday as well. Requests will not be 35%, but we will run our annual gift card sale over Black Friday weekend and gift cards will be applicable to Request site purchases, so in a way it's like picking out your Black Friday selections yourself if you have a gift card.
Black Friday is a great time to stock up on soil, pots, retail, and add a subscription (or gift one), all at 35% off.
We are just starting to get plants in now for the season and we may not have time to put together a White Peacock Collection this year, but we will do our best! We will keep you guys informed. Otherwise feel free to request your unicorn through our Request Site under the 'Custom Requests' section.
Live Upload Schedule-
We will continue shipping plants through Christmas this year. We will still take a break in January just because a lot of our customers live in colder climates and we want to make sure our plants travel well. Quality is something we pride ourselves on.
Our schedule for this season will be as follows:
Subscription shipments go out Tuesday, December 7th
Saturday, December 4th, 9:45 PM EST (our first upload back and sign up for Secret Santa!)
Saturday, December 11th, 9:45 PM EST
Saturday, December 18th, 9:45 PM EST
And a special upload Sunday, December 26th, 9:45 PM EST (we wanted to do this post-Christmas upload for folks who might have been gifted a gift card for Christmas, it will be open to everyone, but we'll try to have some fun stuff on it).
Subscription shipments go out Tuesday, January 4th
Request site will be open for folks who are in warmer regions. We will be able to ship from headquarters without any issues in January. Even with that, all shipments are at your own risk for the month of January due to colder conditions throughout parts of country. Heat packs are always complimentary, but we highly suggest selecting UPS 2-day for shipments.

Shipping Charges and Methods-
If you have been with us for a while you'll know that we made a switch from USPS to UPS back in May 2021. We did this because USPS packages were consistently late, misdirected and lost. We had to start implementing shipping charges (as we could no longer rely on First Class mail).
If you shopped with us during that period you may remember that we had to invoice after the sales for shipping and it was cumbersome for everyone involved. We have worked over the summer for a better solution to that! Moving forward if you shop with us from Thursday to Monday you'll only be charged once for shipping (on your first order), any additional orders made for that week going to the same address will not be charged any additional shipping. The only exception to that is soil, we still have to charge extra for soil due to the weight. You will only pay shipping charges once for each package that ships.
This season we will be shipping on Tuesdays. You will have the ability to select whether or not you prefer UPS Priority or USPS 2-3 day delivery. You will also have the ability to postpone your shipment if you would like to add more plants to your package before we ship it out (postponed shipments will not incur any additional shipping fees if you add to your order).
I just wanted to thank everyone again for allowing me to do something that I love so much. This business and our customers are my heart and I am sincerely grateful. I love these plants and I am so happy you guys let me share something I'm so passionate about with you. I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving full of reasons to be thankful too! And we'll see you guys very, very soon with lots of quality, hand-selected succulents.
